for why umbral magic seems to require both radiance and inferno, a few item descriptions as well as molhu reference returning creation to a "natural state" and returning it to the void, so it may be that the gods and their magic (as well as axiom) are fractures of the one complete and homogenous whole that is umbral. The Putrid mother’s indiscriminate embrace makes a lot of sense too.

@TheLorebrarians Have you considered doing readings of the official MTG books? Maybe add in some relevant graphical content and flavor text reading to break up the thick drama like you do with your other videos?.......I think it would be well received.

With this I can build my 5e game with this information. One of my players took on the mantel of a Markov empire on another plane.. He let me have control over who his Sire was. He is working with a newly formed Eldritch being (he doesn't know it yet) but I might include some of this lore into my story now. The Yawgmoth card also has the three most quintessential aspects of the "pay for power" theme of black mana: Pay life, sac a creature, discard a card. It has the two most emblematic properties of a spreading disease in Mtg: -1/-1 and proliferate. And lastly, it represents a character so reviled by his peers that humans are straight up unable to block him.

To my mind the books started to falter the further they moved from the Atreides. The whole thing with Duncan being the "ultimate" Kwisatz Haderach killed if for me. Herbert's son, who cowrote the later books said they were working from Frank Herbert's notes but I like many fans have called bullshit over the years.

Thank you for the new video about lotf! The magic requiring both inf and rad is not clear to me. The theory about equality, as Mother accepts all is cool, but if we connect it to Nohuta imprisoning their fellow citizen for learning Inferno magic it falls apart a bit. But maybe it was just Nohuta's rules. So for me it's either Umbral magic is superior and requires both talents, or dev's just decide it to be in this way, in order to avoid adding one more stat for character. The biggest problem is this went from being an interesting book series to a McDonalds blog (effectively). The story hasn’t mattered in a while honestly. And since I started (onslaught), I never really cared. And the books were better then.

I am so glad to see the umbral covered. It was really the silent puppeteer in the background. I like to think that the umbral lamp Harkyn bears somehow influenced him to give the cleric the rune of Adyr, which becomes a crucial part of umbral’s plan to enter the mortal realm (and ironically the way to kill the immortal Harkyn and collect his parasite). I wonder just how much of the events axiom witnessed were influenced by the putrid mother. So Lahn Gerysh is basically the Abdul Alhazred of LOTF?

IIRC the BG don't use the water of life and the spice agony until after Leto's Peace. Until Lady Jessica the water of life was specific to fremen Reverend Mothers. The glossary specifically describes the process as using an "illuminating poison", but not specifically the water of life.
